Alex Blum
Alex Blum was a comic book artist during the Golden Age of comics, best known for his long run as the artist on the series, Classics Illustrated.
Blum graduated from the National Academy of Design in New York and then worked as a portrait painter. The Great Depression saw his portrait painting commissions dry up unfortunately, forcing him into the comic book industry. He began working for Eisner & Iger and stayed there throughout the 1930s.
During the 1940s, Blum freelanced for a number of other publishers such as Fox Comics, Quality Comics, Fiction House and Fawcett Comics.
He illustrated for titles like Fantastic Comics, Planet Comics, Fight Comics, Seven Seas Comics, Atomic Comics, Ghost Comics and Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
From 1948-1955, he worked on Classics Illustrated published by Gilberton, drawing almost all twenty-five issues. He also worked on Classics Illustrated Junior and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
