P. Craig Russell
P. Craig Russell began his comic book career working as an assistant for Dan Adkins in 1972.
Russell had his first breakthrough success with Amazing Adventures, an 11-issue run of science-fiction themed comics featuring the character KIllraven. The series was later revamped as a graphic novel for which Russell provided the artwork.
He also inked much of the artwork for both the Batman Family and Detective Comics series published by DC Comics. Following those endeavours, Russell withdrew from mainstream comic work for a while to focus on more experimental projects, such as comic strips which would late be featured in publications such as Night Music and Epic Illustrated.
He also inked Mike Mignola's pencilling on the Phantom Stranger limited series in 1987. Russell also illustrated on and off for the comic book series The Sandman by Neil Gaiman.
He has won both Eisner and Harvey Awards over his career, including Best Inker/Penciller, and was nominated for two Kirby Awards for Best Finite Series for his creation of Night Music.
