He has also worked on titles like Superman: The Man of Steel, Major Bummer, Team Zero and Justice League Elite. Mahnke was the original artist on the Dark Horse Comics' series, X and he provided the cover art for Tiger/Motorhead, a two-issue series that was tied into the X universe.
Mahnke took over as artist for the series Stormwatch P.H.D. in 2006 for Wildstorm Comics. The following year he contributed to the DC miniseries, Black Adam: The Dark Age, written by Peter Tomassi. The two would reunite in 2008 to collaborate on an issue of Nightwing.
He and Grant Morrison collaborated on DC's event series Final Crisis, with Mahnke pencilling several issues, including the series finale.
In 2009, Mahnke took over as the artist for DC's Green Lantern along with writer Geoff Johns, beginning with the Blackest Night storyline. Mahnke remains the ongoing artist of the series.
