Bruce Timm started out his career in animation, working on layouts for series like Flash Gordon, Blackstar and the Lone-Ranger in the late eighties. In 1989 he began working for Warner Bros. on their animated series Tiny Toon Adventures.
He came to prominence later for his work with the DCAU (DC Animated Universe), working on various animated series based on DC Comics superheroes. Along with his partner, Eric Randomski, whom he had previously worked with on Tiny Toon Adventures, Timm created the television series Batman Adventures: The Animated Series, which he also produced.
The series won an Emmy Award in 1992 and was also the birthplace of the character Harley Quinn, whom Timm created as well. Harley Quinn would go on to great popularity in both comics and live action films.
In 1996, he also co-created and produced Superman. The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures the following year. In 1999, he created the series Batman Beyond, which also featured another original character by Timm, Terry McGinnis who also became quite popular.
In addition to those he also co-created and produced the series Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, The Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Freakazoid.
His true passion of working in comics earned him an Eisner Award in 1994 for his work on the series Batman Adventures: Mad Love with writer Pail Dini. He also worked on Avengers and Vampirella while at DC Comics and has subsequently released several Harley Quinn miniseries since the 2000s.
Timm published a book entitled, Naughty and Nice: The Good Girl Art of Bruce Timm in 2012, which featured over 200 images of his pin-up illustrations and full-colour erotic female art.
His cover art and pin-up illustrations may be his best known work, which were inspired by artist like Jack Kirby, Wally Wood and Frank Frazetta.
