Darwyn Cooke began his professional career in 1985, working for DC Comics. His first published work for them was a 5-page story in DC Comics' New Talent Showcase #19.
During the 1990s, Cooke moved into animation, working for Warner Bros. on series like Batman: Ego with Bruce Timm. He also worked on several episodes of The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond and Superman: The Animated series.
Cooke and writer Ed Brubaker revamped the Catwoman character in 2001 with a four-issue serial entitled Trail of the Catwoman, which was featured in Detective Comics #759-762. It's popularity led to the relaunch of an all new Catwoman series later that year for which Cooke would draw the first four issues.
In 2004, Cooke created a new series called DC: The New Frontier, a six-issue miniseries that took place between the Golden Age and Silver Age of the DC Universe.
Cooke and writer Jeph Loeb collaborated on the inter-company crossover award-winning series Batman/The Spirit in 2006. That same year he also wrote the first six-issues of the Superman monthly series called Superman Confidential.
In 2012, he wrote and drew the series Before Watchmen: Minutemen and also wrote the series Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre. Cooke has also worked for Marvel Comics as a freelance artists on series like X-Force, Wolverine/Doop and Spider-Man's Tangled Web.
Cooke has also published several graphic novels like Parker: The Hunter, Parker: The Outifit, Parker: The Man with the Getaway Smile and Parker: The Martini Edition.
Cooke has won numerous awards over his career including 13 Eisner Awards, 8 Harvey Awards and 5 Joe Shuster Awards, the bulk of which were for his work with DC such as DC: The New Frontier and Parker.
