Mick Austin
Mick Austin began working for Marvel Comics, working as a cover artist in 1981. His first assignment was to illustrate the cover art for the short-lived series, Timesmasher, written by Paul Neary. He also provided cover art for the title Blacks Seven.
He then became the regular cover artist, painting covers for the series Warrior. His work on the Warrior series earned him an Eagle Award for his Marvelman cover in 1982. Austin would also draw regularly for the series 2000 AD, pencilling both Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson from the year 1989 to 1995.
During this same time period, Austin was a regular artist on the magazine Doctor Who Monthly, as well as drawing select issues of Tharg's Future Shocks. He was also a featured artist on The Sunday Times from 1982-1985.
Austin also drew for a number of other magazine titles like Men Only, Mayfair and the TV Times. In addition to his magazine work, he frequently was asked to illustrate book covers and promotional film posters.
In the 1990s he drew what would be his final work in the comic book industry, working on Fleetway's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, before leaving the field to pursue a solo career in the fine arts.
His first one-man show was at Jonathan Cooper's Park Walk Gallery in 1997, and his work has been reproduced as limited edition prints by The Art Group of London.
